Approximately 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, producing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Homeowners observed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Moist weather were expected to linger along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across multiple regions of both states.
